Reclaimed wood takes on a new sense of significance with the reutilization of weathered wooden piles, or briccola, used to mark the navigable canals of Venice. Reclaimed wood takes on a new sense of significance with the reutilization of weathered wooden piles, or briccola, used to mark the navigable canals of Venice. Our flagship collection is comprised with that of the highest quality resin available and Walnut Briccola. The Briccolas unique design by nature makes it the forerunner of the Contemporary Ecowood philosophy.
The reliable fall and rise of the tides encourages consistent replacement of the brocole. The Venice lagoon`s predictable yet mysterious actions host an ecosystem not visible to the eye of the countless passerbys. Small sea worms exhaust these markers by gorging themselves on the wood pilings until they are removed and replaced, every 10-20 years or so. The aftermath of the sea worms feast is beautiful asymmetrical holes in the once solid wood posts.
Walnut is known to provide reliable durability, as it proves whilst it withstand the tides attempts at manipulation. The Walnut Briccola stands strong as the destruction from the sea worms penetrates the outermost rings. Its core remains robust and prepared for new functionality.
Our inspired designer leverages on the resilient wood, filling the holes dug deep by the determined sea worms with ultra-modern resin technology. This special wood formed the foundation of our one of a kind collections as its continues to support the foundation of the Venetian waterways.
